A home that did not exist yet.
OpenBIM 365 is the home for everyone running open building standards inside the Microsoft stack. It is a community and a knowledge hub, open to BIM managers, IT admins, integrators, Microsoft agencies, partners, developers and vendors as peers.
There are great open-source AEC communities, but they live in the Blender and Linux world. There are strong web engines and modeling tools, but they are not built around Microsoft. The people who run OpenBIM where their organization already works, inside Microsoft 365, have not had a home. This is that home.
Four standards, four jobs.
Use the right one for the problem. No single vendor in the middle.
The open model
Geometry and properties that move between tools without a single vendor in the middle.
Issues and views
Hand a problem and the exact view of it from one tool to another.
Requirements and QA
Define what a model must contain, then verify it automatically.
Handover data
Carry the information facility teams need after construction.
Your models never leave your tenant.
Most platforms ask you to upload your models to a third-party cloud. The alternative is to keep open building data where your project already lives, in your own Microsoft tenant.
That means your models stay under your own security, single sign-on and access controls. For teams in construction, real estate, infrastructure and the public sector, that is often the difference between a tool that passes a security review and one that does not.
Built for the whole room.
Start with the cornerstones.
